I was looking for a book that could introduce me to the field, get me used to the language and dip my toes in the water without drinking a whole pitcher-full of the electric kool-aid. Enter Lillian Pierson, and (this book). To me, the “for dummies” series always means informative, understandable, amusing excellence, and Lillian Pierson’s addition to their line met and exceeded those expectations. As soon as I started hearing Lillian’s voice, and understood how accessible the information was, I really enjoyed reading it, and now feel much more comfortable around the vocabulary and ideas than before I encountered the book. I can’t speak to the practical applications of the book, since that isn’t my thing, nor was it what I was looking to take from it. (This book) earns a solid five stars from me.
