Marketing with a Tech Twist - How An AI Marketing Strategy Can Boost Your Brand

In the early stage of a startup, marketing is just one of the many essentials that needs attention. But founders don’t always have the time or budget to allocate to this endeavor. Moreover, getting the word out isn’t always easy.

Does this sound familiar? Are you looking for ways to streamline your marketing without blowing your budget or spending valuable hours trying to reach your target audience?

AI may be the answer!

With the advancement of AI, there are new ways to improve your marketing campaigns right from the start.

In this article, we’re going to tell early-stage startup founders how to create an AI marketing strategy that will automate, simplify, and streamline their campaigns. Let’s begin!

What is AI Automation in Marketing?

Using AI automation in marketing may seem like something out of a science fiction film, but it’s actually common and used daily. We see it on Facebook Messenger, website chats and other chat apps where companies have deployed a chatbot. We also use Siri, Alexa, and Hey Google all the time.

It’s really just about finding ways to use artificial intelligence and machine learning within your marketing strategy. The best part is that it’s become very affordable, so even startups with limited budgets can make use of AI automation.

How to Create a Marketing Strategy with AI

Something that’s important to note about AI automation is that you need to deploy it wisely. If you’re using a chatbot, for example, it needs to be trained well on appropriate keywords. Remember, your chatbot is essentially a customer service representative.

Of course, chatbots aren’t the only way to make use of AI automation in marketing. Let’s take a look at the best practices for creating a marketing strategy with AI:

1.     Understand the Different Marketing Avenues

There are so many marketing avenues where AI and machine learning can be deployed. Chatbots are the obvious ones. Then, there’s the rise of tools like ChatGPT and using AI to create content for your startup’s blog or website. You also get tools that help you to work out the best SEO keywords and how to incorporate those into your website.

AI has many uses – it can monitor social media, analyze the sentiment around your brand, and make recommendations about sales and marketing content based on this information. It can also monitor your website and media site traffic and then use that data to predict customer movement.

One of the biggest ways to deploy AI in your marketing—and possibly the most crucial for a startup where you don’t have a big team to do sales and marketing—is in the automation of manual tasks.

You can set up email templates and schedule those to go out at specific intervals or based on actions a customer takes on your website. You can automate media and keyword buying for PPC ads. All of these tasks are essential but take a lot of time. Once they’re automated properly, you can free up time to work on other aspects of your new business.

2.     Choose the Right Tools for a Marketing Campaign

Once you’ve familiarized yourself with AI and machine learning options, it’s time to sort out what your business needs. You don’t want to and probably don’t have the capital to go out and buy every single option there is. It’s also important to remember that getting your AI tools set up properly takes time and effort.

It’s a much better idea to take a moment to analyze where your business really needs help first. Look for what’s going to make the biggest impact on your startup and go for that tool first. When you have it set up and working, you can look at what other tools will benefit your business.

However, you need to remember that you probably want these tools to be able to talk to each other and integrate into the systems that you already have in place. When looking at the available technology, take the time to look at integration features and see how each element can work together with other tools. This will further streamline your AI marketing strategy and increase your output without increasing your human effort or hours.

3.     Refine and Perfect the Use of AI in Marketing

To get the most out of your AI tools, you need to know how to use them fully. This means really exploring all of the options available and training yourself and any team members that will use them. It will take a bit of time and effort, but the results will be worth it.

If the tools are complicated, schedule proper training sessions with the supplier or with the user guide material they supply. When you have time set aside to concentrate on the tool, you’ll be able to actively engage with the features. If you’re trying to learn and deploy on the fly, then you’ll always be on the back foot.

An added bonus of consistently going back to your AI tools and learning about the features in scheduled sessions is that you can closely track your progress. You can monitor how the tool is improving your marketing efforts and discover new ways to refine how you use it within your startup.

As you go through this process of learning and refining, remember to include your employees and their feedback. They may be working on a different aspect of the tool or see a different side of it if they need to use it more often than you do. Their input and buy-in to the technology will help your business to get the most out of it.

Implement Your AI Marketing Strategy with Ease

AI has really revolutionized the way we run our businesses. It’s not replacing humans—yet—but it is helping businesses to refine the way they operate and put their employees to better use. It’s great to take away the time-consuming manual tasks like tracking employee hours for campaigns or sending out follow-up marketing emails.

With a solid AI marketing strategy in place, you can let your employees focus on the tasks that add major value to your business. As a founder, this is a step in the right direction and greatly improves your chances for long-term success.
